With the recent reduction in cost of high quality cordless/rechargeable impact guns, we've been seeing increased use at track events to quickly swap wheels.   Many people also appreciate cordless impact guns while at home performing suspension work.  Not only do they save time and strength, but eliminates the redundant task of loosening and tightening long threaded bolts.   Your typical chrome vanadium sockets are only to be used with hand tools and not impact guns due to their brittle construction and delicate chrome finishes. With impact equipment you must use proper impact grade sockets.  Our Japanese-made Koken impact sockets have the strength of thick walled impact-grade sockets, but are thin walled as to not interfere with the area surrounding the lug nuts, therefore preserving the expensive finishes of your high end wheels.  Typically when impact sockets found here in the US are pushed to their limits,  they will split down the entire length of one side, rendering them useless.   Unlike anything else out there, the secret to the Koken socket's strength lies in the solid tapered center section.  These thin walled sockets will not touch the walls surrounding the lug nuts and have a satin-feel outer coating.  As you can see in the last two pictures on the right, these Koken sockets share the same outer diameter of a typical lug nut.  (Black "Hasegawa" lug nut shown)  If you ever have a highway mishap or need to take your car in for dealer services, mechanics can't be bothered to use hand tools.  Be sure to have a set of thin walled sockets on hand so your wheel finishes will not be ruined!  These were designed with impact use in mind, however we have found a majority of our customers apprieciate Koken quality and easy, quick color identification when used with simple hand tools at home or the track!
